Nigeria: Nine Killed in Container Accident at Ojuelegba Bridge


Nine persons have been confirmed dead after a 20ft container truck lost control and landed on a commercial bus. The accident happened at Ojuelegba Bridge, near the Federal Fire Station.

According to investigations, the bus was picking up passengers when the truck crashed on top of it. The result was a devastating loss of life, with eight people confirmed dead.

The state emergency management agency (LASEMA), along with other rescuers, were quick to respond and used heavy-duty equipment to remove the container and the head of the bus from the Ojuelegba Bridge.

While only one person was found to be alive, a total of nine bodies were recovered.

The nine victims included three adult males, three adult females, a girl child, and a boy child.
