Nigeria: NLC Shuts Down Bola Ahmed Tinubu Airport in Minna

The ongoing strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has brought activities at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Airport in Minna, Niger State, to a standstill, leaving travellers stranded.

The strike action has not only sealed the airport but has also shut down the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) office, the Federal Secretariat Complex, the Niger State High Court Complex in Minna, the Niger State Board of Internal Revenue, the Niger State Urban Development Board, the Niger State Universal Basic Education Board, the General Hospital, the Deputy Governor’s office, the Niger State Secretariat, and the Niger State House of Assembly.

Reports indicate that primary and secondary schools have also been closed.

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has joined the action, cutting off power supply to various catchment areas.

Comrade Ibrahim Gana, the TUC Chairman in the state, addressed journalists, expressing his satisfaction with the compliance rate from all major stakeholders and members across all sectors in the state.

He stated that the strike, believed to be for the benefit of citizens, will not end until the union achieves its goals. He revealed that NLC officials had forced staff attempting to provide skeleton services in some locations to leave their offices.
