Nigeria: NNPC E&P Ltd and NOSL Strike First Oil in Akwa Ibom's OML 13

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Exploration and Production Limited (NNPC E&P Ltd.) and Natural Oilfield Services Ltd. (NOSL) have initiated oil production at Oil Mining Lease (OML) 13 in Akwa Ibom.

NNPC E&P Ltd. represents NNPC Ltd’s primary upstream subsidiary, while NOSL operates as a subsidiary of Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Ltd (SEEPCO).

In an announcement made on Sunday, NNPC Ltd’s spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, disclosed that production commenced on May 6, 2024, starting with 6,000 barrels. This output is expected to rise to 40,000 barrels per day from May 27, 2024.

“The first oil flow from OML 13 is a historic milestone in the partnership between NNPC E&P Ltd and NOSL. It highlights their dedication to driving growth and development in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, which remains a vital component of the nation’s economy,” he said.

Mr. Soneye remarked that the achievement reflects the culmination of careful planning and execution by the involved teams, heralding a new era of economic empowerment and development opportunities.

The initial oil extraction from OML 13 contributes significantly to Nigeria’s endeavours to bolster its oil production capacity, crucial for fulfilling domestic energy requirements and fostering economic growth.

The partnership between NNPC E&P Ltd and NOSL is committed to operating in a safe and environmentally conscious manner, with a focus on benefiting the local communities.
