The police command has made great success in catching suspects involved in robbery and other criminal activity in Kano State as part of its attempt to safeguard the lives and property of its citizens.
According to the most recent report, 57 additional people charged with criminal trespass, mischief, and larceny had been apprehended.
These arrests are a result of information the command got about opportunistic looting that took place after the administration of Kano State demolished illegal buildings and structures.
With the most recent arrests, there are now 106 suspects in total, all of whom have been brought before Magistrate Court 35 Normans Land Kano on charges.
These newly detained suspects join the original 49 who had already been detained. Additionally, law enforcement authorities have been successful in recovering a number of evidence-related exhibits.
The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Bompai, Kano State Police Command is where victims of these crimes should go as soon as possible to provide their testimonies and report any stolen items, according to the police. By doing this, people can assist the inquiry and perhaps get their possessions back.
Police Commissioner Mohammed Usaini Gumel emphasized the significance of collective responsibility in effective policing while expressing gratitude to those who contributed important information that resulted in these arrests and the recovery of looted property.
He also appealed to parents and community leaders to counsel and caution their wards and youths against engaging in looting activities. “The Commissioner warned that any individuals arrested in connection with such crimes will face the full force of the law.”
In a statement delivered by SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Police Public Relations Officer, the Commissioner of Police urged the public to “remain vigilant and work hand in hand with law enforcement agencies to uphold peace and security in the state.”
He reassured the citizens of Kano State that the police are committed to their safety and will spare no effort in combating criminal activities.
