The police have arrested a female teacher identified as ‘Aunty Zara’ for allegedly sexually assaulting a four-year-old pupil in Maiduguri, Borno State, Northeast Nigeria.
Confirming the incident on Saturday, the Spokesman of the Command, ASP Sani Kamilu said the suspect, a female teacher at a private school in Maiduguri, had been apprehended last week, adding that the Command had commenced an investigation into the case.
He further assured that upon completion of the investigation, the case would be referred to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for the next line of action.
The victim’s father Hassan Dala reported the case to the police when he noticed the victim’s urine was reddish in colour.
“Initially, I presumed it to be a symptom of infection. I took her to the hospital, and they told us what the problem is.
“When the mother asked her, the victim told us what the teacher did to her.
“The victim said that the teacher cuddled, gave her breasts to suck and inserted a finger in her private part,” he said.
Dala added that the matter was reported to the police because they want justice, and they hoped for speedy prosecution.
