Nigeria’s Police in Kano have arrested a man who allegedly supplies various motorcycles to bandits in Zamfara State, north west Nigeria.
Spokesman of the Kano State Police Command Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, made this known in a briefing yesterday.
Kiyawa told reporters that the suspect had confessed to have sold at least 100 motorcycles to the bandits in Zamfara State.
He said the suspect, whom he did not mention was arrested following a tip-off by motorcycle traders in Kano State.
He said the suspect was apprehended in Kano while taking two motorcycles to Zamfara State.
According to him, “The bandits paid the suspect N600, 000 for a motorcycle and he took the delivery in Kano.
“He sells Honda ACE 125 motorcycles popularly known as ‘Boko Haram’ in Zamfara State. The state government has since banned the use of this motorcycles in the state.
Bandits resorted to buying the motorcycles in Kano State then altering its covers for onward movement to the forest where they assemble and use them for attack on innocent residents.
Motorcycles are favourite operational vehicles for bandits, kidnappers and gunmen who have sustained attacks and terrorised most communities in the North West of Nigeria.
