SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, shed light on the Nigerian police’s actions during the NLC end hunger protest nationwide.
The Lagos police received praise for their role in safeguarding protesters.
Hundeyin revealed these details in an interview with News Central, stating, “The refreshments came from the Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command, CP Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha; it was his idea, and I’m pleased that people appreciated the gesture.”
He added, “We were equipped with teargas and prepared to use it if needed.”
Hundeyin also highlighted the toll-free emergency numbers in Lagos, 767 and 112.
He emphasised, “The police force’s response is based on the situation at hand. Yesterday, the protesters were orderly and well-behaved, resulting in a positive outcome.”
He noted, “Our approach remains consistent, adapting to circumstances as required.
Yesterday proceeded smoothly, which can be attributed to our prior meeting with NLC leadership, where both sides committed to peaceful conduct and maximum protection.”
