The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), led by Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, has inaugurated the Force Insurance Company, to enhance the welfare and security of police personnel and their families.
The commissioning ceremony took place on Monday, December 23, 2024, at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the event was attended by key dignitaries, including Hon. Makki Yalleman, Chairman of the House Committee on Police Affairs; DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd), Chairman of the Police Service Commission; and other notable stakeholders.
The Force Insurance Company is designed to provide comprehensive coverage for police officers, offering benefits such as health insurance, life insurance, and financial protection plans tailored to the unique needs of law enforcement personnel.
This initiative reinforces the NPF’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of its members and their families.
In a related development, IGP Egbetokun also decorated newly promoted officers with their new ranks during a ceremony held at the same venue. A total of 10 Commissioners of Police (CPs) were elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), while 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were promoted to CP.
Among the newly promoted officers are AIG Mustapha Mohammed Bala and AIG Akinwale Adeniran, as well as CP Adamu Bakori and CP Abayomi Shogunle.
The event was graced by representatives of state governors, the Force Management Team, senior police officers, families of the promotes, and other dignitaries.
The IGP congratulated the officers and urged them to demonstrate professionalism and commitment in their new roles. He emphasised the importance of discharging their duties in line with the rule of law as the NPF continues its efforts to ensure a safer Nigeria for all citizens.
