Prior to his travel to India, President Bola Tinubu met with service chiefs and the heads of security agencies on Monday.
Nuhu Ribadu, the national security adviser, was present during the meeting where all of the service chiefs are also present. The conference will take place before the President travels to India later today to take part in a G20 meeting.
It was gathered that the purpose of the meeting is to provide an update to President Tinubu on the nation’s security position as part of the regular briefings the President receives from the Service Chiefs.
The President, who also serves as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, is anticipated to receive reports on the latest developments with the ECOWAS mandate on the Niger Republic with regard to reestablishing democracy in the troubled nation.
Recall that after a coup last week that toppled the government of President Ali Bongo, Gabon recently became one of the countries ruled by the military.
As African nations tried to stop the increasing frequency of coups in the continent, the scenario in Gabon caused the military hierarchy in Cameron and Rwanda to be reorganised.
