The cost of refilling a 12.5-kilogram cylinder of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) (Cooking Gas) rose by 69% in 2024 to N15,552.56 from N9,194.41 in the same period in 2023.
According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on LPG price watch for August, the price increased by 9.5% monthly to N15,552.56 per 12.5kg in August 2024 from July’s N14,261.57.
According to the state profile analysis, Rivers State tops the chart with an average retail price of N17,086.36 for refilling a 12.5kg Cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas), followed by Cross River at N17,050.00 and Abia at N17,012.52.
Conversely, Bauchi recorded the lowest average price at N13,425.00, followed by Nassarawa and Adamawa at N13,640.94 and N13,725.00, respectively.
The data indicated a consistent increase in the price of cooking gas, adding to the challenges faced by Nigerians.
