Nigeria has reported 1,204 new infections of the coronavirus (COVID-19) disease in 20 states in 24 hours.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Monday night, said seven deaths due to COVID-19 complications were also recorded.
It reported that the country has so far tested 958,911 persons since the first confirmed case of the COVID-19 pandemic was announced in the country.
The NCDC said that the new 1204 cases have brought the total number of infections in the country to 91351.
The agency said that the total death cases recorded in the country is 1,318.
It, however, stated that 75699 patients had been discharged from different isolation centres across the country, having tested negative to the virus.
The NCDC said that the new infections were from 20 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
It said that Lagos state recorded the highest figure with 654 new cases, followed by the FCT and Plateau with 200 and 60 new cases respectively.
Other states with new cases are Kaduna (54), Kano (40), Rivers (30), Edo (28), Nasarawa (25), Kebbi (19), Bauchi (18), Oyo (13), Akwa Ibom (12), Bayelsa(11), Ogun (11), Delta (9), Abia (8), Benue(5), Imo (3), Borno (2), Sokoto (1) and Osun (1).
The NCDC said that a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities.
According to it, 1204 new confirmed cases and seven deaths were recorded in the country as at Jan. 4, 2021.
The public health agency stated that till date, 91,351 cases had been confirmed, 75,699 cases discharged and 1,318 deaths recorded in 36 states and the FCT.
