Nigeria on Friday announced five new COVID-19 related deaths, bringing total fatalities in the West African country to 1294.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), 1,074 new cases of the COVID-19 have been recorded in the country in the 24 hours.
The agency reports that since the beginning of the outbreak in February, more than 948,048 samples had been tested by NCDC, out of which 88,587 were returned positive.
459 patients were discharged from isolation centres across the country, after recovering from the Coronavirus, NCDC reports.
New infections have been recorded in 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with the breaking showing that Lagos leads with 642, Kaduna 92, Rivers 78, FCT 66, Gombe 66, Kano 35, Ogun 31, Katsina 22, Plateau 20, Abia 7, Niger 4, Oyo 4, Akwa Ibom 3, Delta 2, and Osun 2
NCDC notes that to date, 88587 cases have been confirmed, 74373 cases have been discharged and 1294 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory
The agency says that the multi-sectoral National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities.
