On Sunday, Nigeria’s centre for disease control reported eighty-six cases of COVID-19 in what’s the lowest tally after 21 days in the month of March.
Cases were recorded in just six states and Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory. The FCT had the highest number of cases at 33, followed closely by Lagos with 28 cases. Ondo, Kano, Akwa-Ibom, Rivers and Kaduna were the other states to report at least a case.
As of Sunday evening, Nigeria has recorded, 161,737 confirmed cases, the highest in the West African subregion. It has discharged 147,899 people after they recovered from the virus. 2,030 deaths were also recorded from the disease in what stands at 1.25% Case Fatality Rate.
Nigeria is one of Africa’s hard-hit countries but has responded adequately to the virus. The nation has taken delivery of vaccines from the COVAX facility and has commenced vaccination of strategic leadership and health workers.
The country has also witnessed a steady decline in the incidence of COVID-19 for five consecutive days.
