There is strict security at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium Jos, the location of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential campaign flag off.
It was observed that stern-looking security personnel were posted in key areas both inside and outside the stadium.
Maj-Gen. Ibrahim Ali, the General Officer Commanding 3rd Division of the Nigerian Army, visited the stadium in person to inspect the security measures.
In addition to the security measures, it was seen that the road system leading to and around the stadium was being renovated. Some areas were being completely resurfaced while others had potholes that were being filled.
Ahmed Wase, the chairman of the local organising committee, who was present at the stadium, promised that the group will make every effort to make the event go off without a hitch.
“I wish to commend the APC for its choice of Plateau for the launching of its presidential campaign.
“The choice of Jos, which has a memorable history of hosting presidential campaigns and presidential primaries which produced presidents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is not a mistake.
“This time around we are very prepared to repeat that feat as we confidently march into the 2023 presidential and general elections,” he stated.
The campaign flagoff has prompted Governor of plateau state Samuel Bako Lalong to declare Tuesday a work-free day.
