Nigeria: Seven Suspects Arrested Over Edo Train Attack (News Central TV)

The two remaining victims of the kidnapping at the Igueben Train Station have been freed, according to the Edo State Government, which also announced the arrest of two village leaders and five other people.

On January 7, gunmen attacked the Igueben train station in Edo Central and kidnapped over 20 passengers in addition to two Nigeria Railway Corporation employees.

The Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, declared at a news conference following the first weekly State Executive Council meeting of the year on Wednesday that the rescue had put an end to the kidnapping story.

He claimed that by providing proper security and making the state difficult for criminals, the state government would guarantee the safety of its residents.

He said, “We are pleased to announce that the last two victims have been rescued and seven suspects are in custody including two village chiefs. We thank the press for the support they have given in the last few weeks.

“The Governor Godwin Obaseki-led government is ready to provide adequate security and make the state uncomfortable for criminal.
