The Nigeria Climate Change Forum (NCCF) 2025, held in Abuja, has reaffirmed the country’s dedication to sustainable climate change action, bringing together key stakeholders to drive progress toward Nigeria’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) commitments.
As a premier platform for dialogue and collaboration, the forum gathered government officials, industry leaders, and climate advocates to discuss policy implementation, private sector engagement, and innovative solutions aimed at advancing Nigeria’s sustainability agenda. The event highlighted the country’s growing leadership in shaping Africa’s environmental future.
Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, emphasized the government’s commitment to a gender-responsive approach to climate change under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. She stressed the importance of empowering women, children, and vulnerable groups as active agents of change.

She noted that women represent 70% of smallholder farmers in Nigeria and are making significant strides in key sectors such as the blue economy, digital economy, and creative industries.
Sulaiman-Ibrahim outlined Nigeria’s commitment to integrating gender perspectives into climate response and energy transition strategies. She called on international partners, development agencies, and private sector leaders to support women-led initiatives, which she described as crucial to accelerating the transition to a green economy.
The forum saw participation from major institutions, including the Federal Ministries of Environment, Innovation, Science and Technology, and Women Affairs, as well as representatives from the Nigerian House of Representatives, Africa Climate Foundation, UNIDO, and Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Foundation. Their collective engagement underscored the importance of a unified approach to climate resilience.
NCCF 2025 reinforced Nigeria’s resolve to lead by example in climate innovation and policy execution, setting a benchmark for other African nations.
Conference Director and Great Minds Group representative, Mr. Akinola Solanke, commended the level of engagement and support received during the event. He hinted at a second edition in 2026 to maintain momentum, urging stakeholders to remain engaged and take meaningful action based on the forum’s outcomes.
