A Divisional Police Officer, DPO, has been abducted by terrorists in Birnin-Gwari, Kaduna State, northwest Nigeria.
According to Intelligence gathered by News Central, the incident occurred on Monday along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari route.
The DPO, who had just been assigned to the region, was reportedly being kidnapped as he traveled to Birnin-Gwari to report for duty.
This is coming at a time when Ansaru terrorists group banned political activities in various communities in Kaduna State’s Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area’s Eastern region (BEPU), Northwest Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Sgt. James Aondona has been detained by the Benue State Police Command in connection with a case of culpable homicide in the state’s Katsina-Ala Local Council.
This is stated in a statement that the command’s spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, in Makurdi, made accessible to reporters yesterday.
According to Anene, preliminary inquiry showed that Aondona was adequately informed on his job schedule and posted to an observation station at Ngibo in Katsina-Ala on June 26 about 12.30pm hours.
Aondohemba Terkula was killed as a result of the argument that he chose to start with him.
“The lifeless body has been deposited at the General Hospital in Katsina-Ala.
“The Commissioner of Police, Wale Abass, condemned the unprofessional conduct of the officer-involved and ordered that further investigation be carried out,” Anene said.
She further stated that Abass assured Benue citizens and residents that justice would be served, stressing that disciplinary procedure had already commenced on the suspect for onward prosecution.
