In Nigeria’s commercial city of Kano, three women accused of vote buying narrowly escaped being lynched by angry mobs at different polling units.
At Giginyu Ward, a lady identified as Zubaida was forcefully removed from the polling unit for alleged vote buying, while Amina was beaten for the same offense. Despite the violence, voting continued.
In Tarauni Local Government Area, another veiled lady was attacked for displaying her ballot paper after being solicited for her vote by party agents. However, security agents intervened and rescued her from the angry crowd.
The situation eventually calmed down and the women were able to leave the polling units safely.
