Afro Nation has confirmed a brand new edition of the world’s biggest Afrobeats festival is arriving in Lagos this December. The Afro Nation Nigeria will unite the diaspora in the home of Afrobeats and it is set to be the biggest event of its kind in 2023.
The festival has been expanding around the world since Afro Nation debut in Portugal four years ago.
It had a hugely successful US debut in Miami in May, and more riveting shows to come on the beach in Portugal before it returned to America for a two day show in Detroit between August 19 to 20.
While speaking about the plans to bring Afro Nation to Nigeria, Co-Founder Adesegun Adeosun aka Smade stated that, “Nigeria is the home to so many international superstars who have made Afrobeats a globally loved genre.
As someone who grew up in Lagos, and then spent years promoting African music in London and beyond, this will truly be a full circle moment, bringing the Afro Nation show back home to Lagos. We can’t wait for the biggest celebration of African music the world has ever seen!”
The line-up for Afro Nation Nigeria is not out yet, but the programme is expected to feature multiple festival stages and unite a variety of top artistes from genres like Afrobeats, amapiano, Afro-house, hip hop, R&B and dancehall.
The urban beach festival has been hosted in various locations worldwide, including Portugal, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Ghana with an impressive roll of headliners including Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy. It is also widely recognised among the events responsible for elevating the international status of African pop music, particularly Afrobeats.
