Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Works in collaboration with Janson Bridging International from the Netherlands, has secured a €25 million grant aimed at constructing 28 critical bridges across the nation.
This initiative marks a pivotal step in the current administration’s efforts, to rejuvenate Nigeria’s economy through innovative international partnerships.
During a meeting with Dutch investors, facilitated by the Nigerian Ambassador to the Netherlands, His Excellency Oluremi Oliyide, the Honourable Minister of Works, Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi, expressed the government’s keen interest in harnessing international support to address the infrastructural gaps hindering Nigeria’s economic progress.
The minister emphasised the administration’s commitment to fostering partnerships that would finance essential sectors, thereby promoting comprehensive and sustainable economic development.
The grant, provided by Janson Bridging International – the foremost modular bridge manufacturing and rental company in Europe and globally, signifies a strategic investment in Nigeria’s road infrastructure bridge construction.
According to the Nigerian Ambassador, this collaboration not only showcases the company’s expertise in bridging solutions but also reinforces the international community’s confidence in Nigeria’s economic potential.
Eric Okunde, an International Business Consultant and member of the Dutch delegation, highlighted the team’s readiness to commence the project. With technical preparations already in place, the investors are set to collaborate closely with the Federal Ministry of Works on project mapping, design, and execution planning.
The discussions are now moving towards finalising processes and documentation with the Federal Ministry of Finance to kickstart this transformative project.
As Nigeria stands on the brink of this infrastructural and economic milestone, the anticipation for the positive ripple effects on the nation’s economy and the well-being of its citizens grows ever stronger.
