The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Pate, has announced that the ministry is set to launch the country’s first-ever State of Health Report.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, Professor Pate explained that the report will offer a comprehensive analysis of the nation’s healthcare system and outline a strategic path forward for the healthcare sector.
He said the upcoming Nigeria Health Sector-Wide Joint Annual Review, scheduled for 6–8 November, will form the foundation for this report.
The minister further disclosed that a People’s Voices Survey, conducted with nearly 2,500 Nigerians to gauge public perception of the health sector, will also be reviewed next week at the JAR.
Additionally, he noted that going forward, an annual health report will be prepared and presented to the National Assembly, who will then review it before submission to the President, who will make it publicly available.
Professor Pate also announced that President Bola Tinubu has approved the release of ₦10 billion for the Medical Relief Programme to provide essential medicines to those in need, particularly those affected by recent floods.
