Darius Ishaku, the governor of Taraba State, was unsuccessful in winning a seat in the National Assembly‘s Taraba South Senatorial District.
David Jimkuta, the district’s All Progressives Congress (APC) representative, defeated the governor in the election. He is the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate in the district.
To defeat the governor, who received 45,708 votes, the APC candidate received 85,415 votes. Michael Magaji, a candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), finished third with 4,133 votes.
Meanwhile, Cross River Governor Ben Ayade’s attempt to run for the Senate again after serving as governor was unsuccessful.
Ayade, who is nearing the end of his second term as governor, was in the Senate from 2011 to 2015 and had intended to return to the position as the senator for River North.
