Nigerian actor Saidi Balogun is mourning the loss of his first daughter, Zinat Balogun.
On Saturday, Saidi shared a somber image of a candle surrounded by flowers, accompanied by a broken heart emoji on Instagram.
Reports indicate that the actor learned of Zinat’s passing on Friday while performing on stage at Terra Kulture.
Saidi’s ex-wife and Zinat’s former stepmother, Faithia Williams, expressed her grief on Instagram, writing, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un” (from Allah we come, and to Him we shall return).
Fellow actor Ronke Oshodi also paid tribute, writing, “No words can ease the pain of losing someone so precious. My heart goes out to you, @saidibalogun, during this incredibly difficult time. May you find strength in the love and support surrounding you.”
Comedian Chioma Omeruah, known as Chigul, offered her condolences in Saidi’s comment section, writing, “So sorry, sir. May the Almighty send healing and comfort.”
Other actors, including Kunle Afod, Yomi Fash-Lanso, and Adeniyi Johnson, have also extended their sympathies.
The cause of Zinat’s death has not been revealed.
Zinat is Saidi’s first child from his former marriage to Sherifat.
