Renowned Nigerian actress Kate Henshaw is mourning the loss of her mother.
President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, issued an official announcement on his Instagram on Saturday, March 2.
The Nigerian movie industry faced a double blow as comic actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, also passed away on the same day.
Rollas shared the heartbreaking news while expressing deep grief for both Henshaw’s mother and Mr. Ibu.
“Sad Day for Actors Guild of Nigeria.
“Kate Henshaw lost her mother earlier today, and Mr Ibu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager for 24 years, Mr Don Single Nwuzor.
“I announce with a deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didn’t make it.
May his soul rest in peace.”
Kate Henshaw confirmed her mother’s passing on Monday, March 4.
She called for support from friends and fans during this challenging time.
“Dear friends and fans,
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my dear mother on March 1st, 2024.
“Your prayers mean the world to me during this difficult time.
“Please keep my family in your thoughts.
“Rest in peace, mummy,” she wrote on X.
Henshaw, known for her stellar performances in classic movies, also does an impeccable job as co-presenter on News Central TV’s “A Place at the Table,” a show addressing crucial issues in Nigeria.
In memory of Kate’s beloved mother and Mr. Ibu, may their souls find eternal peace.
