As part of efforts to enhance operational flexibility, bring in fresh perspectives, and optimise leadership capabilities, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has approved the posting and redeployment of several senior officers, including Branch Chiefs, Air Officers Commanding, Directors, and Commanders.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, it was announced that the officers affected include Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Olasunkanmi Abidoye, who has been moved from Defence Headquarters to the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters as the Chief of Standards and Evaluation; AVM Adeniyi Amesinlola, formerly Commandant of the Armed Forces Resettlement Centre, now appointed as Chief of Transformation and Innovation at NAF Headquarters; and AVM Abubakar Adamu, who takes on the role of Group Managing Director of NAFIL Group.
Additional appointments include AVM Iboro Etukudo as Chief of Policy and Plans, AVM Francis Edosa as Chief of Training and Operations, AVM Dalhat Ladan as Chief of Air Intelligence, AVM Suleiman Usman as Chief of Communication and Information Systems, AVM Sayo Olatunde as Chief of Defence Policy and Plans, and AVM Lanre Oluwatoyin as Chief of Defence Space Administration at Defence Headquarters.
Other notable redeployments involve AVM Ibikunle Daramola, former Chief of Communication and Information Systems, now reassigned as Chief of Civil-Military Relations, AVM Abiola Amodu, previously Director General of the Air Force Research and Development Institute, now appointed as Chief of Aircraft Engineering, and AVM Patrick Phillips, who assumes the role of Chief of Logistics.
The reshuffle also includes AVM Elijah Ebiowe, appointed as Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Tactical Air Command in Makurdi, and AVM Sunday Aneke, now the AOC Mobility Command in Yenagoa. Furthermore, AVM Abubakar Abdullahi has been assigned to oversee the Air Training Command in Kaduna, while AVM Adeniran Ademuwagun takes over as AOC Logistics Command in Ikeja.
Congratulating the newly appointed officers, Air Marshal Abubakar emphasised that the redeployment aims to ensure strategic flexibility and optimal resource use, thereby boosting the operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Air Force. He also highlighted the importance of critical and innovative thinking in formulating strategies to address current security challenges.
