Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested a key logistics supplier linked to terrorists, along with three suspected bandits in Taraba State.
The suspects, identified as Adamu Abubakar, Mohammed Bello, and Musa Adamu, were captured during an operation in the Andamin general area of Karim Lamido Local Government Area (LGA). These individuals are believed to be responsible for a string of criminal activities, including armed robberies, kidnappings, and violent attacks on local communities.
According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Oni, the spokesperson for the Brigade, these arrests follow credible intelligence reports that pointed to the suspects’ involvement in inter-state criminal activities.
The 6 Brigade, in collaboration with Operation Whirl Stroke, launched a special operation on October 7, 2024, targeting the suspects in Jeb-Jeb, a border town between Taraba and Plateau states.
Lt. Col. Oni confirmed that the arrested suspects have been active in the region for several years. He noted that investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal syndicate they are believed to be a part of.
In a separate operation, a logistics supplier to a terrorist named Musa Inusa was arrested in Bunka village, Lau Local Government Area.
The suspect was allegedly providing essential supplies and materials to a notorious terrorist group operating in the region.
The Army believes that his arrest will disrupt the group’s supply chain and weaken its operational capabilities.
During the operations, several items were recovered, including a jackknife, cash amounting to N2,460, wraps of a substance suspected to be Indian hemp, and other illicit drugs.
The 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army has reassured the public that the fight against banditry and terrorism will continue with full force. Citizens were urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
