The Nigerian Military has neutralised Sani Black, a notorious bandit leader in Sabon birni of Sokoto state, Northwest Nigeria.
Sani Black, who hailed from Manawa village in the eastern part of Sokoto state, was exterminated on Saturday November 19.
Like many other states in Nigeria’s north-west, Sokoto State is plagued by recurrent attacks by gunmen known locally as bandits on rural villages and travelers.
The assailants not only kill some of their victims but also abduct others and hold them for ransom. They are also notorious for cattle rustling. Numerous persons have been abducted, in addition to the hundreds of deaths they have caused in the area. Millions of people have been displaced as a result of the unrest in the area.
Isa, Sabon Birni, Goronyo, Wurno, and Rabah are some of the regions in the state most severely affected by the bandit crisis.
This development comes one week after security operatives arrested a notorious bandits leader Bello Bafarawa terrorising residents in Niger State, Northcentral Nigeria.
Bello Bafarawa is well-known in the state of Katsina for his criminal activities and for terrorising locals, particularly in Batsari and Jibia.
Bafarawa’s arrest came 48 hours after residents in Niger State apprehended eight suspected ISWAP fighters and turned them over to security forces.
The suspected terrorists were apprehended while being questioned by authorities in the New Bussa neighborhood of Wawa.
