Nigerian Army Subdues Boko Haram Commander, Others in Borno

The Nigerian Army has reported that a notorious Boko Haram leader, Abu Rijab and other terrorists were eliminated in an offensive operation.

The update was shared via the official X handle of the Nigerian Army on Sunday.
The operation, which occurred in Bula Bula Daloye, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, led to the surrender of numerous Boko Haram terrorists and their families as troops pressed on their hideouts.

The Army also recovered a significant amount of arms and ammunition from the criminals.
“Following an intense firefight, the troops overpowered the terrorists, neutralizing three, including a wanted Boko Haram commander Abu Rijab.
“The operation led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles and mobile phones.
“Additionally, eight terrorists and their families surrendered to troops in Gwoza Local Government Area.
“The same troops also apprehended two suspects in Konduga Local Government Area with 52 bags of illicit drugs intended for supply to terrorists,” the Army said.

The Nigerian Army also revealed that the chairman of the Hunters’ Association in the Gassol Local Government Area, Alhaji Adamu Tanko, was apprehended by troops in Taraba for allegedly selling an AK-47 rifle to a suspected terrorist.
It was reported that a joint operation against terrorists in Boki Lamba, a border town with Plateau State, led to the recovery of the weapon.

Meanwhile, in Plateau, the Army detained two suspects in the Rikkos area of Jos North Local Government Area.
The Army announced that during the operation, a makeshift rifle and mobile phones containing images of various types of arms and ammunition were seized by the troops.
