Nigerian artist and rave of the moment Rema, has announced his tour in India and Jerusalem. He made this known via posts on his story in the early hours of today. And in a subsequent post, the singer shared his plan to tour the world promising to make that announcement soon.
This comes as no surprise to fans as he had expressed plans to tour India during an old interview with Capital xtra’s Manny Norte, precisely 3 years ago.
Amidst his touring engagements, Rema has broken yet another record on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with his hit remix featuring Selena Gomez, ‘calm down’. The song has now climbed to a new peak position of number 6 on the chart.
Rema’s success on the Billboard Hot 100 started when his song ‘Calm Down’ earned him his debut on the chart last year, after which he set a new African charting record by peaking at number 7.
The song has since enjoyed immense success both locally and internationally, receiving an RIAA platinum plaque and is currently on track to surpass over 2 billion streams across all platforms.
The Selena Gomez-assisted remix of ‘Calm Down’ has now extended its stay on the chart to 32 weeks, climbing up from its previous peak position of number 7 to a new peak of number 6 in the chart week of April 22, 2023.
The song’s popularity has also made it the most-watched Afrobeats music video on YouTube, surpassing the previous record set by CKay’s ‘Love Nwantiti’.
Fans of Rema are now eagerly anticipating if ‘Calm Down’ can break into the top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100. Will Rema make history once again? We’ll just have to wait and see.
