Nigerian Award-winning Prof. Aderinto Speaks on Alleged Response to Tinubu (News Central TV)

Bola Tinubu, the incoming president of Nigeria, was reportedly instructed to return his ‘allegedly stolen mandate’ by Nigerian professor Saheed Aderinto, who recently received the 2023 Dan David Prize.

On Monday, March 13, the Twitter account “Saheed Aderinto” sparked discussion after responding to Tinubu’s congratulations.

In response to Tinubu’s congratulations on his recent achievement, the honoree Nigerian professor of history reportedly ordered him to return his “stolen mandate”.

The tweet said, “Thanks anyway for the recognition, I hope you return Our stolen Mandate.”

Going through Prof. Aderinto’s social media profile it is clear that the Nigerian professor who lives in the US is not presently on Twitter. The fake Twitter account that sent the message was created in October 2019. Upon being made aware of the incident, Prof. Aderinto responded to the congratulatory message and refuted the post, saying –

Thank you sir!

PS: I don’t have a Twitter account. I see that a parody account has been created in my name. I didn’t make those statements on Twitter.
