Nigerian Exchange Ltd. closed Wednesday’s equities transactions on a positive note with a 0.28 per cent gain, reversing five consecutive bearish days.
The All Share Index (ASI) rose to 47,287.09 from 47,154.35, indicating a YoD return of 10.7%.
Additionally, market capitalization increased by 0.28 per cent to N25.485 trillion, from N25.414 trillion on Tuesday.
Market turnover increased to N5.86 billion from N3.64 billion. Positive market breadth was evident as 30 stocks appreciated, 12 stocks depreciated, and 67 stocks remained unchanged.
The price of Presco rose 10% to N114.95, the highest gain in the market.
Pharmdeko gained 9.89 per cent to close at N2, while Linkage Assurance rose by 9.80 per cent to close at 56 kobo.
Royal Exchange Assurance appreciated by 9.63 per cent to close at N1.48. RT Briscoe gained 8.93 per cent to close at 61 kobo.
ELLAHLAKES, on the other hand, led the losers’ chart by 9.92 per cent to close at 3.45 kobo.
Mayer and Baker plc declined by 9.91 per cent to close at $4.91, while Neimeth Pharmaceutical plc weakened by 9.34 per cent to close at $1.65
Nigeria Insurance depreciated by 8.7% to close at 21 kobo, while Africa Curtix fell by 7.26% to close at N2.30.
Furthermore, the total volume of transactions increased by 62.8% to 291.882 million units valued at N2.855 billion, which were exchanged in 4,792 deals in contrast to 754.93 million units, valued at N3.64 billion, which were exchanged in 4,330 deals on Tuesday.
Despite the decline, more than 336 million units were traded in 5,248 transactions worth NGN5.86 billion and valued at 336.31 million.
The volume of shares traded in First Bank of Nigeria Holding Plc topped the activity chart with 102.614 million shares valued at N1,248 billion.
Guarantee Trust Holding Company (GTco) traded 54.133 million shares worth N1.428 billion, while UCAP traded 25.292 million shares worth N308.507 million.
Zenith Bank Plc exchanged 22.292 million shares valued at N595.014 million, while Calverton Plc traded 14. 946 million shares worth N19.043 million.
