Nigerian Chef Dammy Receives N1m From Businessman

Nigerian chef Damilola Adeparusi, popularly known as Chef Dammy, has joined the ranks of millionaires in the town. She recently received a one million naira cheque from a Nigerian businessman named Komiyo Lawrence Adefemi.

This generous businessman had made a promise to gift the Ekiti-born chef with the sum of one million Naira after watching a viral video of Chef Dammy buying roasted corn by the roadside. True to his word, he fulfilled his promise. Expressing his reaction to the video a few days ago, he wrote, “Tag her, let me send her a DM. N1 million for her. At least, let everyone keep quiet.”

Fortunately, the businessman followed through on his promise and handed over a one million naira cheque to the talented young chef. Sharing pictures of the cheque presentation, the businessman praised Chef Dammy for her remarkable attempt at breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking hours. He also urged social media users to refrain from criticising the young chef and instead provide her with motivation to pursue her dreams.

He wrote, “After criticising and reprimanding, we all need motivation. Congratulations to Chef Dammy for making an attempt.”

Social media users and fans of Chef Dammy flooded the comment section, showering the businessman with praise for his kind gesture.

This event took place a few weeks after the 22-year-old chef completed a 120-hour cooking marathon in an effort to surpass the Guinness World Records holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, held by another Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci. However, since the attempt by Chef Dammy was not registered with the Guinness World Records, it did not receive official recognition.

Announcing Hilda Baci’s cook-a-thon victory, the Guinness World Records stated on its website: “Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes.”
