Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a case seeking to remove Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawsuit, filed by the North Central APC Forum, was rejected by the judge on several grounds. One key reason for the dismissal was that the North Central APC Forum is not a legally recognised entity, as it is not registered by law, and therefore has no authority to bring the case forward.
Justice Ekwo also noted that the group had not used the APC’s internal methods for resolving disputes before taking the matter to court.
The judge also ruled that the appointment of APC officers by the party’s National Executive Committee is an internal affair that the court cannot interfere with.
The lawsuit, led by Saleh Zazzaga, asked the court to nullify Ganduje’s appointment, claiming it violated the party’s constitution by not following a democratic process, specifically citing Article 13 of the APC Constitution.
Meanwhile, North Central APC elders remain confident that the ruling party will have a strong performance in the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, former Senate President Ameh Ebute, who led the group of elders, congratulated Ganduje for securing the Edo governorship for the party and praised his leadership abilities.
