Nigerian Doctor, Fola David Sets New Guinness World Record for Largest Drawing

Nigerian artist Fola David, a doctor and hyper-realism artist, has achieved a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for creating the biggest drawing by an individual.

The visual artist from Lagos set out with the goal of producing 1000 square meters of artwork highlighting Nigeria’s various cultures. This six-day endeavor began on July 16 at Onikan Stadium.

On Friday night,he wrote on Instagram: “Congratulations to us all. On Day 4 at 9 pm, we broke the current record of 629.98 square metres, but we are not done! As the goal is to get over 1000 square metres of canvas covered in drawings; we are currently at 689 square metres. Let’s Go!”

Notable personalities from Nigeria who have met David include Peter Obi of Labour Party; Hilda Baci, a former GWR record holder; and Farooq Oreagba, the entrepreneur who garnered attention at the 2024 Ojude Oba Festival, among others.

The administration of the College of Medicine University of Lagos, CMUL, also paid a visit to David, who is an alumnus of the college, to demonstrate their support.
