The Super Eagles duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho of Leicester City may depart this summer, according to the club’s new manager Enzo Maresca, who also claims that the team is willing to sell players who are eager to leave the King Power stadium.
When asked about the futures of his present players, such as Jamie Vardy, Harvey Barnes, and the Nigerians at the team, Maresca responded, “It is tricky because anything may happen when the market is open.
“At the moment, seven players had their contracts expired, James Maddison left, and some more players can leave. But at the same time, players can leave, so we can bring in more players.
“The market is open, anything can happen. We can bring in players and we can sell them too. The market is long. There are many weeks so we’ll see.”
After Leicester City were demoted to the Championship seven years after winning the Premier League, Iheanacho and Ndidi were rumoured to be leaving the club this summer.
Ndidi has drawn interest from Saudi Arabian clubs Al Hilal and Al Ittihad, as well as Scottish powerhouses Glasgow Rangers and Celtic, but Iheanacho has been connected with AS Roma, Inter Milan, Besiktas, and Aston Villa.
Despite making only 13 starts in all competitions and scoring only eight goals, Iheanacho was chosen as Leicester’s fan base’s player of the season last year.
Since his £25 million transfer from Manchester City, Iheanacho has been a member of City for six years. He appeared in 206 games overall and scored 55 goals.
With 24 goals, Iheanacho, 25, is the Foxes’ top Cup scorer, nine more than Mike Stringfellow, who is in second position.
