Nigerian Exchange Group of Companies joined over 100 securities exchanges around the world to celebrate the 2022 International Women’s Day and Ring the Bell for Gender Equality in collaboration with International Finance Corporation (IFC), Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Initiative, United Nations (UN) Women, United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) on Tuesday, 8 March 2022.
The event themed “Break the Bias: Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” was headlined by the Honorable Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen (OFR) and Honourable Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Amb. Mariam Katagum. It brought stakeholders together to explore the key issues that could facilitate progress towards gender equality through policy and finance.
In his opening remarks, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), Oscar N. Onyema, OON said, the global finance industry has a critical role to play in achieving gender equality and that there is a pressing need for stakeholders to reconsider the role of finance in addressing gender issues.
He reiterated the NGX’s commitment to implementing various initiatives aimed at promoting gender diversity and empowering women.
