The accident involving a passenger train and a staff bus carrying employees of the Lagos state government is being investigated by the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), per a directive from the federal government.
The Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, called it unfortunate and promised Nigerians that the NSIB would determine the cause of the accident. The agency would give solutions to avoid a repeat in the future, he further promised.
The minister also asked the public to help the agency with its probe in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Dr. James Odaudu.
The minister expressed sympathy to the Lagos Government and its residents, in particular to those who had lost loved ones. He also prayed for the quick recovery of those injured in the accident.
