As the crisis in the nation continues to worsen, the Nigerian government has revealed that preparations are already being made to ensure the evacuation of Nigerians living in Sudan

Nigerian students’ desperate appeal to be evacuated from Sudan was what prompted this action.

Conflict is raging in the nation between army head Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, who is in charge of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), two generals who took control in a coup in 2021.

According to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), talks are being held to determine the best way to handle the evacuation process in response to the Nigerian Students’ request.

The Chairman/CEO of the Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, claims she has taken note with worry of the condition of Nigerian students in Sudan due to the escalation of hostilities, according to a statement released on Thursday by NIDCOM spokesperson, Gabriel Odu.

The NIDCOM Boss added that the Commission had received a letter from the Sudanese branch of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) requesting possible student evacuation, particularly for those in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan.

She promised that the Nigerian mission in Sudan and other pertinent agencies are engaging with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), which is in charge of emergency evacuations.
