State governors in Nigeria have issued statements advocating for love, peace, and humanity as Nigerian Christians celebrate Christmas this year alongside their global counterparts.
The governors emphasised the importance of uniting as a people to enjoy the joy, peace, and optimism that the season provides, even though amidst the celebrations, Nigerians are dealing with challenging economic realities.
The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, urged the populace to embrace togetherness, tolerance, and understanding with our neighbours despite our differences in his message.
“Let us pause to consider the principles of love, kindness, and giving and endeavour to exemplify the authentic essence of Christmas in our deeds and exchanges.
Regardless of our differences, I urge everyone to embrace tolerance, solidarity, and understanding with our neighbours as we celebrate.”
Sanwo-Olu stated, “Let’s work together to create a Lagos where peace and development thrive.”
Christians were urged by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to take advantage of the celebration to foster love among people and offer prayers for the state and Nigeria. He prayed for others in mourning as well.
“I wish all Oyo State residents and Christians a Merry Christmas,” he stated.
Another chance to convey love and offer prayers for our state and nation is provided by Christmas.
“We should pray that God will comfort and give the strength to bear the loss to those who are grieving the loss of their children in the recent stampede.”Additionally, I encourage state citizens to exercise caution and vigilance during this time. In his message, Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo reminded Christians that Christmas is a time to consider God’s unending kindness.
“As we commemorate this time of happiness, love, and hope, I want to send you and your family my warmest Christmas wishes. As demonstrated by the birth of Jesus Christ, whose life encourages us to embrace compassion, generosity, and unity, Christmas is a time to consider God’s unending love,” Governor Ododo said.
Christians and wealthy people were cautioned by Bayelsa State Governor Duoye Diri to help those who are less fortunate so they can enjoy Christmas.
The Bayelsa helmsman acknowledged the terrible economic conditions in the country but stated that the period would soon be past.
His words: “Christians have reason to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. In addition, I think that if we learn to share what we have, everyone will have something to eat this season regardless of the nation’s hardship and hunger. Always give to those who are less fortunate than you. If you are an officer of government, kindly share with others who do not have one.”
Governor Soludo of Anambra State wrote in his message of joyous goodwill that “this special season reminds us of God’s boundless love and the enduring spirit of hope that the birth of Jesus Christ brings to humanity.”… It is true that the atoning nature of Christmas lies in embracing hope and spreading love.
“In light of this, the governor called on the people of Anambra and all Nigerians to show unselfish love for one another and to maintain optimism despite the difficulties that lie ahead this season.”
He also hoped for the fortitude to cope with the loss of the many families who lost loved ones in the tragic recent Okija stampede.
Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State reminded everyone of the genuine meaning of Christmas in his Christmas greeting, which was made public by his Chief Press Secretary, Nsa Gill. He also emphasised the value of love and solidarity in conquering obstacles.
He acknowledges the financial struggles that families and individuals around the country endure, but he makes it clear that these struggles are not specific to Cross River.

Nasir Idris, the governor of Kebbi State, has asked Christians to use the Christmas season to pray for both a speedy economic recovery and world peace.
The governor encouraged Christians to view Christmas as a time for prayer, love, and, of course, serious contemplation, according to a statement released by his chief press secretary, Ahmed Idris.
Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the governor of Ondo State, encouraged the people of the state to celebrate Christmas by spreading the values of kindness, charity, and love.
Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor’s chief press secretary, released a statement conveying this information to the state’s citizens.
“Christmas is more than just a day; it’s a mindset. Conscience is a never-ending Christmas. Since the purpose for this season is Jesus Christ, our celebration must reflect the values and characteristics of Christ.”

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State called on people to actively work towards establishing peace in their hearts, families, and communities by being peace ambassadors and sharing compassion, love, and kindness everywhere they go in his Christmas message.
In his Christmas greeting, Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas urged the populace to embrace the season’s lessons, which he said stuck to the principles of selfless giving and love.
The birth of Jesus Christ marks a turning point in human history, according to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
“The holiday season serves as a sombre reminder of the strength of love and its capacity to rescue humanity,” he said.
