The Nigerian government has said there will be no entry into offices for federal workers that are yet to be vaccinated or fail to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test, from the 1st of December.
This was announced on Wednesday by the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 led by Secretary to the Nigerian government, Bello Mustapha.
The government added that a circular will soon be released to that effect in every federal office in the country.
“With effect from 1st December, 2021, Federal Government employees shall be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result done within 72 hours, to gain access to their offices, in all locations within Nigeria and our Missions. An appropriate service wide advisory/circular will be issued to guide the process,” the statement said in part.
Nigeria is one of the countries that is yet to have a significant number of vaccinations conducted with just 2.5% of the population fully vaccinated.
A turbulent phase which saw high increase in the daily case incidences has been calmed with the daily numbers now reduced.
The Nigerian government has received two batches of vaccines with the AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines being jabbed in the country.
