The Ondo State Police Command has detailed how a middle-aged man tragically killed his estranged wife in the state two days ago.
In a statement released on its X handle on Thursday, the Ondo State Police Command detailed a tragic incident where a middle-aged man, whose name was withheld, invited his estranged wife, also unnamed, to their home under the pretense of collecting her belongings. However, in a horrifying turn of events, the man set his wife ablaze before taking his own life. The wife sustained severe burns in the attack.
“Mr A was married to Mrs A, but along the line, they had issues that made them stay apart.
“Mr A called Mrs A to come over and carry a wardrobe, when she got to the house, he started with threats of killing himself but later locked the door so that both of them will die together.
“Mr A with the aid of fuel and lighter sets himself and Mrs A ablaze. Mr A died on the spot while Mrs A had major burns, in less than 48 hours, Mrs A has been referred to the 3rd Hospital. Stay Away from Toxic Partners.”
Mr. A, who was separated from his wife, Mrs. A, invited her to their home to collect a wardrobe. However, upon her arrival, Mr. A made threats of self-harm and ultimately locked them both inside the residence, stating that they would die together.
Mr A sets fire to himself and Mrs A using petrol and a lighter.
Mr A died on the spot, while Mrs A suffered severe burns; in less than 48 hours, Mrs A was transported to the third hospital.
