Nigerian Midfielder Etebo Excited To Join Galatasaray

Nigerian international Oghenekaro Etebo is excited to join Turkish giants Galatasaray from English Championship side Stake City on loan.

Galatasaray announced the signing of the midfielder from Stoke. The Super Eagles star joined the Championship side in the summer of 2018 from Portuguese side Feirense.

Etebo made 45 appearances for Stoke City before moving on loan to La Liga outfit Getafe in January where he helped the Spanish side finish eighth in La Liga last season.

“Galatasaray Sportif AS informed the public that an agreement was reached for the loan transfer of professional football player Oghenekaro Etebo until the end of the season,” read a statement from the club website.

“We welcome Oghenekaro Etebo to our club and wish him a successful season in the Galatasaray jersey.”

Etebo is excited to join the Turkish side and thanked his management team for making the deal happen.

“I am excited to announce my arrival at Galatasaray, I am looking forward to this amazing opportunity and I am happy to be part of such a historic club,” Etebo tweeted.

“Thank you to everyone at Stoke City and thank you to the DW Sports management team.”

Etebo played for Lord Honour FC youth team at the start of his career, and later joined Nigeria Professional Football League side Warri Wolves, spending three years with the team before moving to Portugal and played for Feirense, making 45 league appearances for the team before joining Stoke City in 2018.

The midfielder played age grade football for Nigeria as he featured in Nigeria’s U23 team, and was also part of the bronze winning Nigerian Olympic Games team in 2016.

He has made 35 appearances for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, he featured at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and was part of the side that finished third at last years Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
