Over the weekend, military jets from the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, killed dozens of ISWAP militants in the Fiya, Ba Yuram, in the Sambisa forest.
ISWAP at Sambisa Forest is reportedly led by notorious terrorist Fiya Ba Yuram at the moment. He became the ISWAP terrorist group’s leader after Abubakar Shekau, the head of Boko Haram, was assassinated last year.
The air component of Operation Hadin Kai’s credible and actionable intelligence that terrorists were assembling for an unspecified objective led to the raid at Fiya Ba Yuram’s enclave.
A military intelligence source told newsmen that after receiving the intelligence, airstrikes were approved and carried out on the target area.
He said: “An assessment of the location after the strikes revealed it to be successful, though it remained unconfirmed if Fiya Ba Yuram was among the terrorists neutralized in the strikes”.
In August, two Nigerian airstrikes killed a notorious Boko Haram Commander Aminu Duniya in Niger State, North Central Nigeria.
Scores of Boko Haram terrorists were also killed during the onslaught by the military fighter aircraft.
This was after the Nigerian Air Force neutralised a notorious Boko Haram commander also known as ‘Bem Bem’ and 27 other terrorists in Gwoza LGA of Borno.
