The Katsina State Police Command has rescued 28 girls abducted by bandits in Katsina. The girls were reportedly kidnapped while fetching firewood near Kasia village in Batsari LGA, Katsina.
The state police command’s spokesperson, ASP Sadiq Aliyu confirmed the rescue in a statement on Tuesday. Adding that all the victims “have now regained freedom and are safe and sound.”
ASP Sadiq further stated that on receiving the report, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, Katsina Police Commissioner, quickly deployed a task force team alongside other security stakeholders. This led to the release of all the abducted victims at about 10:40 pm on the same day of the incident.
“On the 1st of April, 2024, at about 10:30 hrs, about twenty-eight (28) girls who went to the outskirts of Kasai village, Batsari LGA, Katsina State, with intent to fetch firewood, were abducted by kidnappers.
“Upon receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Police Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, swiftly deployed operatives to the scene, tasked with the unhurt rescue of the victims,” the statement read.
