Corporal Juliet Chukwu of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has claimed the bantamweight title at the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC119) held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The NPF’s Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi. Disclosed this in a statement announcement on Saturday. The statement noted that Corporal Chukwu’s achievement signifies the growing international recognition of Nigerian athletes and highlights the NPF’s dedication to promoting excellence in sports.
“The Nigeria Police Force, led by Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has proudly honoured the nation with Corporal Juliet Chukwu’s remarkable victory in the bantamweight championship at EFC119 in Johannesburg,” the statement said.
The Inspector-General commended Chukwu’s accomplishment as proof of the Force’s efforts to empower its officers to excel in diverse arenas, including the rapidly expanding sport of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). To support these aspirations, the IGP reaffirmed the NPF’s commitment to advancing MMA within its ranks.
Key initiatives include launching MMA by establishing the Nigeria Police MMA Association, sponsoring the first-ever IGP MMA Open National Championship, and organizing a Stakeholders Sensitization Seminar, along with a planned demonstration of MMA at the forthcoming 14th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA).
Adejobi said the Force aims to achieve remarkable accomplishments across various sectors, including sports.
