Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Chad’s President-elect, Mahamat Deby, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to bolstering ties with Chad and pledging continued cooperation between the two nations.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu underscored Nigeria’s unwavering dedication to nurturing bilateral relations and promoting collaboration with the Republic of Chad. He hailed the successful conduct of Chad’s elections as a testament to the nation’s steadfast commitment to democracy and orderly transitions in the region.
President Tinubu emphasised the importance of maintaining a robust and amicable partnership between Nigeria and Chad, expressing optimism for the future as President-Elect Mahamat Deby assumes his responsibilities in serving the people of Chad.
Mahamat Deby won the May 6 presidential election, securing over 61% of the vote. Various human rights organisations, including the International Federation for Human Rights and the International Crisis Group, expressed concerns about the credibility and fairness of the election, citing issues such as a lack of transparency and democratic principles.
