Nigerian Rapper OG Maco, born Benedict Ihesiba Jr., has died at 32, just weeks after being hospitalised.
His family announced the news on Instagram on December 27, praising his resilience, creativity, and love. “While we grieve this immense loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he lived,” they wrote.
On December 16, Maco’s family revealed he was in critical condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. His manager shared that he was on life support and undergoing tests, urging fans to pray for his recovery.
Rising to fame with his 2014 hit U Guessed It, OG Maco was a prominent artist with Quality Control, collaborating with stars like Diplo and Migos and earning a spot in XXL’s 2015 Freshman Class.
Despite personal struggles, including a 2016 car accident and a severe skin condition in 2019, his family said his legacy “will remain forever etched in our hearts.”
