The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ebonyi State Command, has detained two juveniles for allegedly attempting to forcefully engage in sexual activity with another minor.
The incident occurred in the Ishielu Local Government Area of the state, involving minors aged 15 and 13, with a third accomplice currently evading arrest.
Elijah Willie, the State Commandant of the Corps, revealed these details to the press in Abakaliki on Saturday, mentioning ongoing efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
Despite this, one of the accused persons have denied any involvement in the alleged act.
“They will be transferred to relevant juvenile authorities for necessary rehabilitation.
“There have been increasing cases of minors engaged in such acts and it reflects the moral decadence in the society.
“I urge relevant stakeholders to take drastic actions to check the trend for the sake of our youths,” Willie said.
