Police Tactical Operatives in Zamfara State have arrested an infamous bandit popularly known as Maiyammata on Wednesday, within Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, North West Nigeria.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ayuba Elkanah, said Maiyammata was arrested while trying to kidnap passengers at Koliya village.
Maiyammata formerly belonged to the marauding Bello Turji gang and is now believed to be working with another wanted murderous outlaw, Kachalla Sani-Black.
Sani-Black operates along Birnin Magaji, Zurmi, and Shinkafi Local Government Areas of the state.
The CP said “One AK-47 rifle, double magazines with three rounds of live ammunition, and one Boxer motorcycle were recovered from him.”
A few days ago, bandits kidnapped and murdered the district head of Gada in Bungudu local government area of the state, Alhaji Umaru Bawan-Allah and four others.
Elkanah added that efforts are on to apprehend Maiyammata’s accomplices and charges would be filed against them in court.
