Nigeria’s award-winning sprinter, Tobi Amusan, has rewritten the record books after she set a new African women’s indoor record by completing the 60 metres hurdles in 7.75 seconds.
Tobi Amusan set the records at the New Balance Indoor Gand Prix in Boston, United States.
By the new records, the Nigerian sprinter retired the 7.77 record she had previously set in Kazakhstan at the Astana Indoor Meet in January with her run in Boston.
Though it was an African record, Amusan’s 7.75 effort was insufficient to take first place in Boston as American Tia Jones finished in first place with 7.72 seconds.
Devynne Chalton of the Bahamas finished in third place, not far behind Amusan with a time of 7.76 seconds.
Amusan defeated her compatriot Gloria Alozie’s to her African record in the first race of the new sports season on January 27.
